So this picture appeared yesterday on pretty much every news outlet with the same comment: GROUNDBREAKING.

I carefully observed it to find its groundbreakingness. (Yes, I do make up words, so?)

And I thought:

It cannot be in the contrasting outfits between Mrs. Trump and Mrs. Erdogan, and in this time of extreme political correctness pointing that out would be too risky.

Then I thought: Of course! It’s because there are not just wives but husbands as well, or rather one husband! That is great! 

Who is that handsome fellow in the back row? Mr. Merkel? Mr. May? Who is the lucky lady?

Why aren’t both husbands in the picture and why hasn’t the gossip-hungry press ever noticed how it isn’t just Mr. Macron who fell in love with an older woman?

Reality check. 

Mr. May and Mr. Merkel were nowhere in sight, they probably had an important phone call to make or a sudden physiological need.

The handsome fellow in the back is Luxemburg’s first gentleman, Gauthier Destenay. 

The only gay spouse and the only male spouse who was man enough to pose in a picture full of the world’s wives and partners without feeling threatened.

Questa foto è apparsa ieri su quasi tutti i quotidiani accompagnata dallo stesso commento: GROUNDBREAKING, che significa rivoluzionario, innovativo.

Ho osservato attentamente la foto per cercare di scovare la sua rivoluzionarietà (si, esiste questa parola), e ho pensato:

Non può trattarsi della differenza d’abito fra la signora Trump e la signora Erodogan, e in quest’epoca di correttezza politica estrema nessuno si azzarderebbe a farla notare.

Allora ho pensato: Ma certo! È perché non sono solo mogli, ci sono anche i mariti, o meglio un marito! Fantastico!

Ma chi è quel figaccione in seconda fila? Il signor Merkel? O forse il signor May? Chi è la fortunata?

Perché non sono entrambi i mariti nella foto e come mai la stampa che è sempre a caccia di scoop succosi non ha mai notato che il signor Macron non è l’unico ad aver perso la testa per una signora più matura?

MMhh… chissà…

Il signor Merkel e il signor May non erano presenti, forse occupati con un’importante telefonata o un impellente richiamo fisiologico.

Il figaccione in seconda fia è il “primo marito” del Lussemburgo, Gauthier Destenay. L’unico consorte gay e l’unico abbastanza uomo da posare in una foto piena di mogli senza sentirsi da meno.
