of planes, toilets and Formula One -- sugli aerei, i gabinetti e la Formula Uno

So plane restroom sure are no place of rest for me. I’ve done all kinds of things in them, all but join the Mile-High-Club, unfortunately, although I flew with Lauda Air many years ago, and they did offer complementary condoms, but that was long before everybody was terrified of taking a false step in the murky waters of politically incorrectness.
Most memorable of all was my son’s very first flight from New York to Frankfurt when he was just three months old and during take-off, perhaps because of the sudden change in cabin pressure, proceeded to poop himself all the way up to his neck with that lovely mustard-like sticky newborn poop and a thundering sound that surely prompted the pilot to immediately contact the control tower about that sudden storm. I sure did feel sorry for the passengers who had to use the same restroom after I changed him.

But that was of course not the point I was trying to make. But rather: why is every public toilet in the world gender-specific except for the ones on planes or trains?
Who is the genius who came up with this practical joke of saving the coed ones for things that move
Let’s face it: not all men were born with the aim of a sniper, add turbulence, and there you have it: the toilet no woman in the world would ever want to walk into. Even the most considerate man under such shaky circumstances turns into Hamilton holding the champagne bottle after the Grand Prix.
So I am much happier when it’s a lady walking out of the plane restroom I am about to use. Unless it’s Hamilton, of course, then let’s just hope we are flying Lauda Air.

-------------------------------------------------------
