of the garden leave -- sul garden leave

Today it's my darling husband's first day on his new job. He left the giant engineering company he worked for, to take on another one, even more gigantic. Because that's the way he is: he cannot be still and constantly needs to be on a bed of nails to feel that he's making the most of his time.

I have only one thing to say to this: HALLELUJAH!

Because before this blessed day of rejoicing, he had been on a Garden Leave, which according to Wikipedia is the practice where an employee, having resigned, is instructed to stay away from work during the notice period, while still remaining on payroll.

My ass!

More like the practice where a husband, having resigned, is driving his wife nuts during the notice period, because he feels like he is on vacation and expects her to adjust every bit of her very busy life to make the most of their time together, while at the same time being conspicuously absent (and conspicuously on the phone) during those daily emergencies that turn family life into a Tarantino movie.

So the only thing that grows in this "garden" are the weeds of divorce.

I will get the papers ready in case he ever thinks of changing job again.

------------------------------------------------------
